Blitzkrieg was written during my junior year of college.  At the time, I was reading quite a bit about American history. I became fascinated with our involvement in previous conflicts and what strategies worked and didn't work as we fought. Many countries adopted a swift battle tactic that the piece is titled after. There was quick movement, time for mourning, and then moving on. This piece was written for my college roommate, Mike, for his junior recital.
